Additional Information: Phoebe wood is a tall tree in the lauraceous family (includes laurel, cinnamon, etc.). This tree grew in the Miocene-- about 5 to 23 million years ago. These trees grew as far north to eastern Siberia and Kamchatka. One species of Phoebe trees originated in southern China and was extremely precious and only royal families could afford to use them and was called "Emperor's Wood". The Giraffe bones I use are from the leg bones of the Giraffe. These bones come from South Africa and were legally obtained from harvested animals. Giraffe bones have a nice patina and provides a nice contrast to the Fossil Emperors Phoebe Wood..
