Additional
Information:
The Steller's Sea Cow was a large herbivorous
marine mammal that is related to the Manatee and lived in the Bering Sea. These sea animals
where hunted for their meat and fat. They were fearless of man and
were easy targets for hunters. Hunting pressure caused the
extinction of these animals in the 1700's. The Steller's Sea Cow I use has a nice patina with cracks/crevices.
The Buffalo Horn I use in my knives is actually from domesticated water
buffalo from Southeast Asia. There
are at least 130 million domesticated water buffalo and more people
depend on them than on any other domesticated animal. The
Buffalo Horn I used in this knife has a nice polished black color.
