Information:
The Spalted Pen-Line Maple used in this folder came from a
"good ole boy" from Oregon who supplies Maple Burl to
high end guitar makers. The spalted wood is a result of being
left out in the damp environs after the tree had been harvested
and makes some wild looking wood with swirls and
pen-lines everywhere.
The Ironwood came from a tree several hundred years old in Mexico. These trees are now "protected" and are usually only available from trees that have died and laying down. This Ironwood piece is highly figured and provides a nice contrast to the lighter colored Spalted maple Burl. |
