This is a Desert Ironwood Burl handle on a Small Skinner. Ironwood is very hard and dense-- stabilization often has little or no effect. The wood polishes beautifully and often shimmers in the light. Some say the wood darkens over time. This wood comes from Mexico and has probably been dead for over 100 years rotting in the sun.
