Information:
The 6,000 Year Old Swamp Kauri was growing during the ice age when
Woolly Mammoths were roaming and was buried by natural cataclysmic
events. This Swamp Kauri is the oldest workable timber on Earth. The
tree was discovered by a utility company which were preparing to
install utility poles and they came across a huge Kauri tree buried
in the ground in New Zealand. The tree was removed and pieces were
sent for carbon-dating and these were determined to be around 6,000
years old. This particular piece of Swamp Kauri has nice swirly
figure and two-tone colors.
Hemp,
or industrial hemp, is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant
species that is grown specifically for the industrial uses of its
derived products. It is one of the fastest growing plants and was
one of the first plants to be spun into usable fiber 50,000 years
ago. It
can be refined into a variety of commercial items, including paper,
textiles, clothing, biodegradable plastics, paint, insulation,
biofuel, food, and animal feed. Hemp
is from the same species as cannabis. But, unlike cannabis, hemp
contains very low levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), less than
0.3%. It is legal to sell hemp and makes a nice
contrast to the Swamp Kauri.
