This Swamp Kauri is the oldest workable timber on Earth. The tree was discovered by a utility company which were preparing to install utility poles and they came across a huge Kauri tree buried in the ground in New Zealand. The tree was removed and pieces were sent for carbon-dating and these were determined to be around 6,000 years old. This particular piece of Swamp Kauri has nice swirly figure and two-tone colors.

Apple is a fruit tree wood with very fine texture. Trees are slow growing and normally only cut when they’re no longer useful as a fruit tree, Apple is a prized wood for whirlwind instruments. This particular piece is knotty with nice figure and complements the 6,000 Year Old Swamp Kauri.
