Additional Information: Fossil Walrus Oosik is the bone in the penis from an ancient walrus. These bones grew up to 4 1/2 feet. Obviously, there is a bit of folklore, mana and mojo associated with Oosik, as you can imagine. Some people believe Oosik can bring good luck and increased fertility. This Walrus Oosik was legally obtained from Alaskan Native Yupik's on St. Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea. This island is part of Alaska but is actually closer to Siberia.

Totara is a medium to large tree that grows throughout the North Island and northeastern South Island of New Zealand. The wood is very hard and has a reddish color. Occasionally the tree has a burl that makes a growth in which the grain is radically deformed because of some stress or damage and makes small birdseye knots and swirly figure. This wood is somewhat rare and is highly sought after by wood turners. The Totora Burl used in my knives comes from the North Island of New Zealand and has Birdseye and nice swirly figure with cracks/crevices. This particular piece provides a nice contrast to the Fossil Walrus Oosik.
